The Met Office has put in place a yellow weather warning "very strong" wind for north Shropshire as Storm Debi hits the UK.
The Met Office has issued the warning for today (November 13) with the poor weather expected to last until this evening.
The weather warning has been issued for the north of the county with most of Montgomeryshire being covered by today's warning.
The Met Office have warned residents that "Storm Debi has the potential to bring very strong and disruptive winds".
The warning covers both Oswestry and Whitchurch, as it sweeps around the northern edge of Shropshire.
The effects of the bad weather could include possible "injuries and danger to life from flying debris".
The Met Office are also warning that "power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage".
They also warn that there could be "damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs" and that public transport could be disrupted and that "road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible."
When driving today the Met Office are advising motorists to drive slower and "be aware of high sided vehicles/caravans on more exposed roads" and to be more cautious when overtaking them.
They also advise that you "hold the steering wheel firmly" and "give cyclists, motorcyclists, lorries and buses more room than usual".
They add that when "outside in high winds makes you more vulnerable to injury. Stay indoors as much as possible. If you do go out, try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees."
