THE MET Office has released a yellow warning of heavy rain and are warning about flooding in Shropshire with  Storm Ciarán predicted to hit the UK later today, November 1.

In a recent update, the whole of Shropshire has been placed under a yellow rain warning expected to begin tonight at 6pm, and last until tomorrow, November 2, at 11.59pm.

The Met Office said that there is a potential for “fast-flowing or deep floodwater”, which could pose a risk to life and cause damage to buildings.

The warning reads: “Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible.

“Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

“Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.

“Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.”

Shropshire Council has also issued a statement on the new alert.

In a Facebook post they said: “Shropshire is likely to experience heavy rainfall overnight tonight and into the early morning with widespread rainfall totals of 20-30mm over the next 24-hour period.

“With catchments saturated following Storm Babet there is the possibility of localised flooding and some difficult travelling conditions.”

The Environment Agency is also urging people to “stay safe and don’t take unnecessary risks”, while signing up for flood warnings.
