THIS year’s Oswestry Balloon Carnival is just days away and once again organisers will be hoping for some good weather.
The popular event returns to Cae Glas Park on Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20.
As always there will be mass balloon launches on both mornings at 6am, along with another launch at 6pm on Saturday and 5pm or 6pm on Sunday afternoon – these events are weather dependent so make sure you check the forecast.
Plus there will be a spectacular nightglow from 9pm.
As if that’s not enough, the park will be filled with activities giving visitors the chance to learn more about balloons, as well as plenty of entertainment from Oswestry Raptors Cheerleading group, Border Counties Gymnastics, and live music from Cady Brazier and Sonya Smith.
OTHER NEWS:
- Man whose body was found at Chirk Aqueduct is named
- Top Gear-esque car boat seen cruising along canal
- Take a look inside Old Vicarage which is on the market for £1.25m
The Owl Man will also be in attendance, alongside Punch and Jody, and there will be lots of stalls.

The event will once again be held in aid of Nightingale House Hospice in association with Oswestry Town Council, Spirit Operations and supported by Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID).
The event is free entry but there is an option to donate £1 to the hospice.
