FORMER Neighbours star Mark Little was an unexpected addition to a Welsh side that took on Oswestry's Cae Glas IIs at the weekend.

The famous face, who played Joe Mangel from 1988 until 1991, made his debut for Mansfield Sports Group Shropshire League side Guilsfield on Saturday.

Mr Little, who returned to the popular Aussie soap in 2005 and for last year's 'farewell' episodes, moved to Montgomeryshire three years ago, living near Llanfyllin, and on Saturday lined up for Guilsfield and Llandrinio Cricket Club.

Club chairman David Williams was delighted with the new signing despite their division eight match against Cae Glas IIs being abandoned inside 10 overs due to rain.

“We have been chatting to Mark for a couple of years so it was a pleasure to finally welcome him down for a game,” said chairman, David Williams.

“He loves his cricket and his signing has certainly created a real buzz at the club. Sadly we could only manage 10 overs but we will definitely be seeing more of Mark now he is a part of the Guilsfield & Llandrinio family.”
