AN OSWESTRY car park has taken a step towards green energy following the installation of two additional electric vehicle (EV) charging points.

The new additions are situated in the middle of the Horsemarket car park and are conveniently located near the rear of Powis Market Hall.

Operated by InstaVolt, a prominent charging network provider, these rapid charging points are equipped with disabled access and offer a user-friendly experience.

Oswestry Mayor, Councillor Olly Rose said the new charging ports demonstrate the council’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment.

“Oswestry is also a strategically important location in the road network with many business and holiday travellers passing through.

“We would like to encourage electric vehicle drivers to stop off and charge up in Oswestry and take some time to explore our historic town.”

With no connection fee or monthly membership charges, the system operates on a convenient 'pay as you go' basis.

However, it's worth noting that vehicles utilising the charging points will still need to pay for parking.

These new charging stations supplement the two previously installed in Oswestry's Central car park in 2021.
