PREPARATIONS are in full swing for this summer's Oswestry in Bloom competitions.

The town - which will be aiming for its latest gold award in the Heart of England competition - has received tremendous support from Oswestry town mayor, Councillor Olly Rose, and Helen Morgan MP for North Shropshire.

On Saturday (June 24), the pair visited several community gardening projects that have been spearheaded by the Oswestry in Bloom team.

The tour included stops at the St Oswald Church planters, the children's sunflower competition, Cae Glas' perennial planting, and the sensory garden.

During their visit, the distinguished guests also attended a charity tea fundraiser for the National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society (NASS) at the Willow Community Garden.
