AN OSWESTRY business is celebrating after topping a Twitter shortlist poll for the best window display ahead of a book competition next month.

Siop Cwlwm, in Bailey Street, is a Welsh bookshop that made the permanent move to its new premises from the Powis Indoor Market last year.

Recently, it came first in a social media poll to find the best Mid Wales window display of shortlisted titles for most popular literature for children in the country.

Lowri Roberts, co-owner of the shop, said they were delighted and were looking forward to a winning book being announced in June.

She said: “The Tir na n-Og Awards are the oldest and most popular awards for children’s literature in Wales.

“Established in 1976, the awards recognise, honour and promote excellence in books for children and young people.

“After moving to new premises on Bailey Street last autumn, we were keen to use the ‘new’ display windows to their full advantage.”

The display gave visitors to the shop the best chance to see all the shortlisted titles, for both Welsh and English language, and the youngest member of the team Lluan Buddug Jones was on hand to show them off.

Lowri added: “The winner of each category will be announced in June, along with the winner of the new Readers’ Choice Award.

“The Readers’ Choice Award will be judged by children and young people who take part in the Tir na n-Og shadowing scheme.”
