AN APPEAL has been issued for extra volunteers to join the team at Oswestry Town Museum.

The museum, based in the Guildhall on the Bailey Head, plays a crucial role in uncovering forgotten stories and connecting Oswestry with its global roots.

But those behind it say they now require more helping hands to meet and greet visitors and provide support in enhancing the visitor experience.

With operating hours on market days every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm, the museum has an immediate need for volunteers to cover Saturdays on a regular basis or as part of a rotating schedule.

OTHER NEWS:

A spokesperson for the museum said: “We are a vibrant group diligently searching out the history and heritage of Oswestry and the surrounding area, uncovering almost forgotten stories, teasing out links and connections from around the world which have Oswestry at their core.

“If this sounds like something you would like to help us with please contact us.”

While an interest in history and heritage would be beneficial, it is not a strict requirement to volunteer.

Volunteers should primarily possess excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of engaging with visitors, welcoming them, and providing guidance on the museum's layout.

The museum offers an enriching environment where volunteers can get involved in various projects if they desire, but their primary role will be to ensure visitors have an enjoyable experience exploring the exhibits.
