OSWESTRY’s Borderland Rotary have unfurled a new banner for to mark the Mountain Bike Challenge coming up next month.

Chris Bryan-Smith, president of the Borderland Rotarym and its members, alongside the Mayor, Councillor Jay Moore, and James Davies from Mule Café Racer, all got together today (Friday, April 28) to put up the banner at Guildhall.

Chris said: “The race has been going on for a while, since 1994, and since then we welcomed electric bike in which is great.

“Most of the money from the Challenge will go to Midlands Air Ambulance service, but also a part of it will go to local causes as well.”

The Borderland Mountain Bike Challenge is set to take place on Saturday May 13 at 10am starting at Rhiwlas Village Hall.

“If you own a mountain bike you can probably do this event”, Chris added. “It’s medium, not that easy – as it is a challenge – but most people that own a mountain bike can probably do it no problem.”

The 22-mile challenge will take riders over natural trails, green lanes, and farm tracks, as well as going up and down the Berwyn Mountains.

Councillor Moore said: “Just go to the website, sign up, everything that Borderland is doing is fantastic.

“They are an important part of the community so supporting them would be great.”

Chris explained that racers will also have to fundraise at least £30 through JustGiving pages.

The president of Borderland Rotary continued: “Let’s hope the weather is alright, but it should go smoothly.

“People that do not want to participate can just donate online, or groups of friends that are interested in doing this together can also sign up on the website.”
