A MAN from St Martins has been banned from the roads for 17 months after he admitted drink driving.

Conor Thomas McGowan appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on April 4 charged with driving a Peugeot in Sedbury, Gloucestershire, on March 18, this year, while over the limit.

A reading gave 60 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres - the legal limit is 35mcg.

The 25-year-old, of Ceiriog Way in St Martins, pleaded guilty and magistrates said they would take that into account when imposing a sentence.

They also took into account his previous good character, but said the offence was aggravated by the level of alcohol involved and that there was an accident linked to it.

McGowan was disqualified from driving for 17 months, though this can be reduced by 17 weeks if he completed a drink-drive awareness course.

He was also fined £430, must pay £172 to the victim services fund, and £85 court costs.
