CHIRK AAA Football Club will be led by a new management team next season.

Manager Andy Pryde stepped down following last weekend’s draw with Buckley Town which secured the club’s JD Cymru North status.

Phil Pearce's late leveller completed the Colliers' comeback to seal a point in a 2-2 draw and ensure Conwy Borough were doomed for the drop along with the already relegated Penrhyncoch and Holyhead Hotspur.

The point ensured survival as the Holyhead Road club celebrated mission accomplished in their first season back in the second tier after last season's promotion.

Despite a season spent battling the drop the Colliers picked up enough points to stave off relegation with all eyes now turning to next season and consolidating in the second tier once again.

Pryde took to social media after the game, writing: "Football's a crazy game. Never would of thought that a feeling of staying up by the skin of your teeth would trump that feeling of winning a league title."

OTHER NEWS:

Pryde will be succeeded by Jack Ellis and Gary Jones who will jointly lead the Colliers next season.

A club statement read: “The club would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Andy for his total commitment and professional approach that he gave to the position.

“Andy led the club to the inaugural Ardal North East title in 2022 and kept us in Cymru North last season.

“Chirk have acted promptly and appointed a new management team.

“Keeping continuity within the club, the management team have been appointed from within.

“Gary Jones and Jack Ellis, who were both coaches last season, step up into the management role.”

Jones joined the club following a brief spell at the helm of Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League side Morda United having previously managed Ardal North East League side Carno and the now defunct Newtown based club Maesyrhandir.

Jones is a UEFA C coach and will join UEFA A licence holder Ellis in stewarding the club next season.

The spokesman added: “The club is delighted with the appointment of two talented young coaches to take the club forward and embrace the challenge of another season in Cymru North.

“It is hoped that the majority of last seasons squad will remain at the club with the new management team also looking to strengthen over the pre season in readiness for another crack in the highly competitive Cymru North League.”
