A PICNIC in the park will be coming to Chirk this summer as the country looks to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The town council confirmed this week that they will be holding a celebratory day on the main recreation ground on Sunday, May 7, following a special service at St Mary’s Church at 11am.

The event will include outdoor games, such as a giant connect four and many more.

OTHER NEWS:

Councillors confirmed the plans when they held their monthly meeting on Wednesday (March 29) but they added that safety must be taken into consideration and will be calling on the local policing team to lend their support to the event.

A BBC license to broadcast the coronation has been offered but the council decided against streaming the event in the Parish Hall.

Other events in Chirk that weekend include an afternoon tea, at the Methodist Church in Chapel Lane, but this will only be open for their parishioners.
