A BUCKET collection to raise money for a new veterans supported living scheme will take place this weekend.

Members of Oswestry Rotary Club will be leading the collection at Morrisons on Shrewsbury Road on Saturday, March 25 in the morning.

The funds raised will go towards The Harbour, a new 22-bed accommodation complex for veterans which is being developed at the former Hope Church building, in Laburnum Drive.

Mike added: "I am delighted that at our previous well-supported collection in October last year, we felt the support of the people of Oswestry for this cause.

"One lady made a generous donation because her brother was a paratrooper and she also wanted to volunteer to help.

"We hope that Morrison's shoppers will recognise this tremendous cause with their support for our collection."

Veterans that will be housed at The Harbour will get personalised development programmes and participate in a ‘core syllabus’ promoting proficiency in English, maths, communication, financial management, basic IT and employment skills.

The Harbour will be the first facility of its kind in the UK, and is the brainchild Mr Anderson.
