A POPULAR tourist attraction near Oswestry will be closed for the day today (Monday, March 13) due to strong winds.

Chirk Castle confirmed on social media that it would closed because of the high winds that have been forecast.

However, the National Trust property will reopen as soon as possible.

The Tweet said: "We’re sorry for any disappointment but thank you for your patience as we keep our visitors, volunteers and staff safe."

The site was forced to close last week because of the heavy snow and reopened on Sunday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind across part of the Midlands, across towards the East and South, however, it stops just short of north Shropshire and Wales.
