OSWESTRY and Border History and Archaeology Group will explore the history of a famous Oswestry country house.
The talk about the Oakhurst Hall will take place at the next meeting of the group, on Friday, March 10, at the Methodist Church Hall, Castle Street, at 7.30 pm.
The speaker, John Pryce-Jones, OBHAG president and well-known Oswestry historian, will begin the in-depth talk after the usual brief.
A spokesperson from the OBHAG said: John will explore the rich and varied history of the country house 'Oakhurst Hall’, and the Venables family who built it in 1853.
"The talk will also describe how the house was used by Coventry Climax Engines during the second world war, and then became boarding accommodation for Oswestry Girls High School."
