NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to Oswestry eateries recently.

Wots Cookin, a restaurant, cafe or canteen on Willow Street was given a score of four out of five when its inspection results were listed on the Food Standards Agency’s website.

It follows an assessment on November 2.

Meanwhile, Aroma Cafe Bar Limited on Bailey Street, Oswestry, Shropshire, was rated five out of five on October 12.


What do the numbers mean?

Zero – Urgent improvement necessary.

One – Major improvements necessary.

Two – Improvements necessary.

Three – Generally Satisfactory.

Four – Good on assessment.

Five – Seen as very good.


What happens now?

Businesses which are given low ratings of zero or one must make urgent or major improvements to hygiene standards.

The local authority food safety officer has several enforcement options available and gives advice and guidance to make sure these improvements are made.
