MARC Griffiths has praised his players after Llansantffraid booked their place in the fifth round of the Welsh Trophy on Saturday.
The villagers beat Penlan courtesy of a 97th minute strike from George Hughes to keep the Treflan club’s dreams of national silverware alive.
Manager Marc Griffiths said: “A good run in a prestigious cup like the Welsh Trophy is a lift for everyone.

“We feel that as a group of players we are capable of competing against any team at this level and above so it’s great to get the opportunity to test ourselves.”
Griffiths made the short trip from local rivals Llanrhaeadr in the summer and has made the Saints among the contenders for the title.
He said: “The season is going as expected for us so far. Our home form has been very good but we need to start taking these performances on the road with us.”
