CAMBRIAN Heritage Railways (CHR) says it will be bringing back its popular 'Santa Trains' after a break of nearly three years with the new extended line to Weston Wharf.

CHR is getting ready to welcome Santa to their new grotto at Weston Wharf, near Oswestry, as the holidays and the festive season are fast approaching.

They will be operating trains to visit Santa in the last weekend of November, and the first three weekends in December.

A spokesman from CHR said that young and old will be excited for the return of the Santa trains next month.

"It’s a well known fact that Santa absolutely loves trains," they said.

"So Weston Wharf station really is a great place for him to settle down to welcome children and parents alike, and with each child receiving a present and a cookie, and of course mulled wine and mince pies for the grown ups.

"It’s sure to raise everyone’s spirits."

The staff at the station are doing everything they can to bring the Christmas to the station, and will be decorating it to match the holiday season.

They added: "Now, we all know Santa is pretty clever with his time management, but even he needs to slow down a little, especially when he’s talking to the excited children – he always does enjoy a good chat.

"To keep things cheery, we will be helping him out by decorating the station and arranging entertainment for everybody who is waiting."

Booking is now open at https://cambrianrailways.com/chr/special-events/santa-specials/

Due to the capacity of the trains and the available space at Weston Wharf, there is a limit of 70 participants on each departure.

For the weekend of November 26/27 tickets will be £12 per person, for the next three, December 3/4, 10/11 and 17/18, the tickets will be £15 per person

CHR opened the Weston Wharf branch in April and since then they have been as busy as hoped.
