The streets of Oswestry are to be filled with runners this weekend as the town's 10k race arrives once more.

Organisers have advised locals to take care about where to park as the event will see the closure of streets and crammed car parks in town.

The run will take place this Sunday, October 16, with a 9am start. Participants are being encouraged to arrive at 8am, with the warm-up beginning at 8.45am.

Drivers are being asked to use the Bailey Head car park, SY11 1PZ, or Salop Rd Central Car Park, SY11 2NR.

For the locals, Oswestry 10K's organiser suggest that if you need to leave by car during the road closure, that you move your vehicle before the closure starts at 8.15am.

The race route

The race route will start on Church Street, before moving along Morda Road, Nant Lane, Trefonen Road, Oswestry Road, Upper Brook Street, and then back on Church Street. The race has a cut-off time of 90 minutes.

If you are travelling into the town, diversion routes to avoid the closed roads will be in place.

You won’t be able to drive on roads that are closed, but many of them will only be closed for a short period.

For the spectators, the organisers insist that they listen to Marshals and stay off the course until runners have passed.

The race start and finish will be full of music and flags, and visitors will also have the chance to enjoy local attractions such as Cae Glas park, the town centre's shops, cafes and eateries.

Awards for top three females and top three males and 14 age group winners (seven female and seven male), will wait for the winners at the finish line.

But, once you have completed the run, you will receive your own finishers medal.

The charity Oswestry 10K has chosen to support this year is Hope House.
