POLICE in Oswestry have comfirmed that a major road outside the town is now reopen following a road traffic collision that left people needing treatment.

Shropshire Fire crews from Ellesmere, Oswestry and Wellington were sent to the scene shortly after 9.20am to the A495 near Park Hall following reports that three vehicles were involved.

Police closed the road while firefighters used cutters/spreaders, winches and small gear to release two people who were handed to the care of West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).

An air ambulance was sent to the scene but was not needed as a man was taken to royal Shrewsbury Hospital by road, with a woman and child treated at the scene.

The stop signal was sent by firefighters to control shortly after 10.05pm and will the road reopened before 11am.

A WMAS spokesman said: "We were called at 9:18am to reports of a three-car RTC at the junction of the A495 and Burma Road in Park Hall.

"We sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford.

"We have treated one man for injuries not believed to be serious and he’s been taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.

"A woman a child were treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”
