When did you open your business and why?

We first opened the business the day before lockdown in 2020, the mayor came cut the ribbon, we were opened for one day and we had to close.

We then opened it again after, had a great Christmas, and we did some remodelling last December to the front to bring the building back to its historical face, by replacing the windows .

We do lovely metal hives and plant arrangements, and we realised we couldn't fill the shops ourselves so we decided to invite local artists.

We wanted to bring local artists under one roof, hence the business name, we have 52 different artists' work in at the moment.

The idea of the workshops came from the shopkeeper, Anne-Marie, who used to work around the corner, called Corner Patch, with people with learning disabilities, teaching them art and how to sow.

People used to wonder in at her work place and ask if there are workshops, and she had to dismiss them, because of red tape and background checks, you can't just bring anyone in when you work with vulnerable people.

She wondered in and she asked if we are interested, and if we needed anyone to help out in the shop.

Why in this location?

The building has been empty for a few years, we saw that it was up for sale and we put in an offer, and we just got it.

Tell us about your business.

There is something for everyone here, from a bar of chocolate to paintings and cushions, we try to keep our price range within the Oswestry Market.

We want to accommodate for everyone, we have wheelchair access, and we are inclusive.

We had a gentleman come in a couple of weeks ago, who was quite mobility bound, and he came in with his electric scooter, and took photos and was amazed that he could do that.

MORE NEWS:

It was his first time being able to come into a shop and have a look at something by himself.

With the workshops that we do we can have 10 people inside, to teach them art and how to sow and crafts.

We also hold parties for people, we try and coordinate with local restaurants.

For example, we would do a class, and arrange with next door if the people can go there for dinner.

Your proudest moment

After we finished re-modelling the shop, with Anne's help, it was just lovely to open and have everything sorted and all the new artists be there.

Any strange requests?

Someone has asked us to make a large champagne bottle made out of fabrics, for their camper van.

One of our artists makes bananas out of fabrics, and she would make anything for you out of fabric, so she is doing that at the moment.

The reason they asked for a champagne bottle is because the branding of the van is Champagne.
