Arthur’s Motor Group has announced it will be sponsoring golfing ace Frankie Jones in the forthcoming Phoenix Cup..

Disabled golf groups from around the world are invited annually, to bring together teams to compete in the Phoenix Cup – only pan-Disability match play team golf event in the world.

The tournament will represent 28th edition of the competition which is the world’s first fully inclusive team international and is based firmly on the Ryder/Solheim Cup.

Frankie, is a sales consultant at Arthur's Newtown branch.

Frankie plays golf in Welshpool and regularly in the summer league and also in club competitions on his weekends off.

He currently plays off a handicap of 8.8 at Welshpool Golf Club where he has been an active member since being a junior.

He’s made the team, having played in the Welsh disabled golf championship in the Vale and being selected by the Welsh captain.

An Arthur's spokesman said: "When he told us he was representing Wales in the Phoenix 4 Nations 2022 at the Forest of Arden course in Birmingham, later this month, and was looking for varying types of sponsorship, we didn’t hesitate to assist. With the fast turnaround from Macron in Wrexham, for Frankie’s kit, we have been able to provide him with exactly what he wanted.

The inaugural Phoenix Cup was held when golfers from Canada and Scotland got together to arrange a multi-nation and friendly match play competition at the Chippewa Creek Golf Club in Ontario with Wales, Ireland, England, South Africa, Germany, Australia and France also competing in the past.
