A TEENAGER from Chirk brought home gold for Wales in the first gaming championship alongside the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this weekend.
Owain Lamb,18, and his team were at the Esports Championship where they competed against England on Saturday, and won the grand final.
Owain, or "Foxy" to use his username from the game, is specialised in one of the three games available, Rocket League, that won the Welsh team the competition.
"I had so much fun, but it was so weird being on a stage, I could not even hear anything for most part, besides some chanting in the background." said Owain.

The event in Birmingham is a pilot event which could see Esports included in the full Commonwealth Games schedule in 2026. As such it has different branding and medals to the rest of the Commonwealth Games.
His family was there, and everyone watched the event online, there were a lot of tears from the loved ones as they could not contain their excitement.
Foxy added: "I still am in shock, I wanted to win but I also wanted to have fun, and that's exactly what we did.
"Now I am looking at the medal and the t-shirt and I just want to frame it, and I probably will after I am done wearing them."
This opened a great opportunity for Owen and he is already inspiring so many young people.
"A bunch of kids came up to me after asking for a picture, when I asked where they were from, some said places like Swansea, and that is far to travel.
"I felt weird, they travelled to see this, and somehow convinced their parents."
After the big win Owain and his family and friends all headed down to the pub in Birmingham, where they had a great time celebrating.
Now the Chirk teenager is considering taking his passion to a new level and may take his talents to the professional circuit.
"Everyone is supporting me, my friends and family, I am really looking into it," he said.
"It felt great being on that stage and I kind of want to be on a stage again , I liked the feeling."
