A man has been told to pay more than £300 after being caught speeding 14 miles per hour over the limit in a Powys village.

Dominic Devlin, 45, was sentenced in court for driving at 44mph in a 30mph zone on the B4393 Crew Green, near Llandrinio on February 9.

He was fined £208, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £90.

The driving licence owned by Devlin, of Skelton Drive, Leicester, was endorsed with four penalty points when his case was heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on July 20.

Court records stated that the Peugeot Expert van which Devlin was driving at the times was clocked by a laser doing 44mph when the speed limit was signified by street lighting placed at less than 200 yard intervals.

The minimum penalty for speeding is a £100 fine and three penalty points being added to your licence.
