THE future of a village nursery which was evicted from its base on the grounds of a primary school has been secured after new premises were found.

Staff and parents at Gobowen All Rounders were left shocked in April when they were told they must leave the current premises adjacent to the village's primary school in School Lane by the end of August.

This left the group, which is about to celebrate 50 years of operating, in desperate search of new premises in order to ensure youngsters in the village have early years education.

Ali Myers, leader of Gobowen All Rounders, admitted the delight for both her and her staff in confirming a new start in September at All Saints Church Hall in the village.

She said: "It has been two long months since Gobowen All Rounders were given one term's notice to vacate their premises.

"The staff and committee have worked tirelessly to find new premises to move to, to ensure that the children of Gobowen have continuity of their caring team of staff.

"We are so pleased to let everyone know that we will be moving to the Church Hall in Gobowen from September 2022.

"We still have some spaces left for children aged two to five years if anyone would like to book a place.

"Gobowen All Rounds will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary in September and look forward to many more years of caring for and educating the children of Gobowen.

"We will be holding an open morning at the Church Hall from 10am from Saturday, September 3."

The nursery club was based at Gobowen Primary School but will leave the premises by August 31 this year after an eviction notice was served on them by headteacher Ronan Walsh, headteacher, on behalf of governors.

A public meeting was held shortly after to help give staff ideas on how to find new premises and fundraising streams, which was gratefully received by the All Rounders.

North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan also attended a support rally for the All Rounders to pledge her backing in finding new premises in May.

The new term will start at September.
