A MAN charged with causing £15,000 worth of damage to a petrol station in Oswestry has had his first crown court appearance pushed back because of the national strike by barristers.

Shane Roberts appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Tuesday after he was charged with a string of offences.

Roberts faces a string of related charges including robbing a packet of cigarettes and a lighter, worth £12.45, from Wayne Thwaites in Oswestry on January 19, and driving a black Mini Cooper dangerously on the BP/Morrisons petrol station forecourt off Beatrice Street on the same date.

He is also charged with failing to stop after an accident involving the same car on the the BP/Morrisons petrol station site.

The 44-year-old, of Mytton Close in Whittington, did not enter a plea when he appeared at Telford Magistrates Court.

He was given the option of adjourning to Friday, July 15 by Judge Anthony Lowe as he did not have representation in court, and remains on unconditional bail.
