A 77-year-old Powys motorist has been fined over £800 and had eight points put on his driving licence after he was found to be driving without one.
Michael Anthony Neville also had no insurance for the Rover 45 he was driving when he was pulled over in Builth Wells on January 10 this year.
Neville was stopped by police in the car park of the town’s Riverside Community Centre just after 1pm. Officers discovered he did not have a licence, nor did he have insurance for the vehicle.
Neville, of Broad Street, Builth, was not in attendance at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 28, where magistrates convicted him of both offences in his absence.
He must pay a total financial penalty of £816 for both offences.
For no insurance he was fined £660 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £66 surcharge – in addition to the points placed on his licence. For driving without a licence, magistrates ordered no separate penalty.
