AN OSWESTRY man who allegedly kissed a supermarket worker without her consent will face trial later this year for sexual assault.
Darren Jones, 51 and of Middleton Road, Oswestry, pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual assault at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 21.
The court heard that on February 3 this year, Middleton was with the supermarket worker who was helping him try on clothes.
She alleged that he began to make a number of sexualised comments towards her and then tried to kiss her, open-mouthed, on the lips and the back of the head.
This, according to the prosecution, left her distressed and she accused him of sexually assault, but Jones denied any misconduct and trying to kiss the complainant.
Jones elected to face trial at Telford Magistrates Court on Friday, November 4 where there will be four witnesses for the prosecution, and is expected to last at least half a day.
He was bailed with conditions of not approaching the complainant or entering Sainsbury's in Black Gate Street, Oswestry.
