CLWYD South community groups are being encouraged by its MP to apply for the UK Government's Community Ownership Fund.

Bidding for UK government to level up funding means taking back control of pubs, music venues, sports facilities, and historic building for the benefit of the public, according to Simon Baynes.

Groups will be able to bid for a share of the UK Government's £150million fund to help rescue the cultural buildings in their area that could be lost forever.

Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart said: "More than 170 projects in Wales have already benefitted from more than £160 million of the UK Government’s new levelling up funds, including the Community Ownership Fund.

"The Community Ownership Fund provides funding that makes a huge difference to people’s lives, refurbishing and regenerating those places that bind together our communities."

He added: "I hope to see applications from right across Wales for this next round of money."

The second round of bidding opened on Saturday, June 11, 2022, and it aims to level up communities across the country, by creating more jobs and helping local businesses and the local economy.

Mr Baynes said: "I would encourage community groups across Clwyd South to apply for this second round of funding from the UK Government.

"It is an opportunity to help our communities thrive and protect our community venues, sports facilities, historic buildings and meeting spaces here in Clwyd South."
