AN APPEAL has been made for lovers of Oswestry to come forward and train as guides for the town.

Oswestry Borderland Tourism has made the appeal for people to come forward to train as town guides, which would lead guided tours around Oswestry across a couple of hours a month.

The tours are aimed at locals and visitors alike, who enjoy them and they take place every Saturday from Easter to September

Ruth Sperring, marketing manager at Oswestry Borderland Tourism, says the guides would be given full training and support.

She said: “We are asking anyone who has an interest in Oswestry and likes meeting people to consider becoming a town guide.

"Full training will be given, and the commitment is only for two hours on a Saturday morning once a month during the summer.

"Our current guides will be only too happy to talk to you about the role.”

The call for guides comes after the launch of the new Tourism Ambassador Scheme for the town and the surrounding areas.
