A FORMER Oswestry restaurant is set to go under the hammer.

The former Brooks Around the Corner in Church Street, includes space across two floors, plus a two-bedroom residential flat on the second floor.

It has a starting bid of £260,000 and is on the market via modern auction – which sees potential buyers make bids to the seller against each other until the auction expires.

A spokesperson for agents Halls said: "The property provides a prominently located property with a return frontage onto Church Street and Lower Brook Street that is in part three storey and part single storey with a basement area and has a yard area accessed from Lower Brook Street.

"There is off road parking accessed from Lower Brook Street.

"The property is of traditional construction and is a former licenced restaurant."

They added: "The property provides a substantial property that would be suitable for various commercial and residential uses and the potential of the property can only be fully appreciated by undertaking an inspection of the property."

The building was for many years known as The Sun Inn until 1996 and since then had spells as a number of pubs and bars, including Farrells and Bar Mirage.

It officially closed its doors at the start of 2020.
