SHROPSHIRE young farmers are being encouraged to share images of their working lives in a partnership initiative with an Ellesmere-based firm.

Tudor Griffiths Group (TG), in Wood Lane, previously unveiled a unique new vehicle in a pledge of solidarity with the county’s dairy farmers, a concrete mixer truck resembling the markings on a Holstein Friesian cow.

And now, the company is calling on Shropshire Young Farmers to draw or paint a typical farming scene that will be recreated on its next new vehicle.

TG Concrete general manager Dave Morris said the project was the latest in a programme of initiatives to show the company’s commitment to the community in which it was based.

He said: “We are one of the largest privately-owned ready mixed concrete suppliers in the region and we recognise our business brings with it a high level of responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of our operations.

“It’s not just about the energy and materials that we use, but also the direct impact that the processes we use have on the habitats and landscapes around us.

"We feel it’s very important that we show visible support for the agricultural sector in particular, and we’re calling on all local young farmers to get involved.”

The project asks for A3 designs and the closing date for entries is May 1, 2022.

“Our ‘moo mixer’ was a unique way to promote our thanks and support for the local dairy industry, and this time we’re looking for another creative way to raise awareness of the farming community and show them we appreciate everything they do,” said Dave.

Rachel Cooper, for Shropshire Young Farmers, said: “We believe this is a brilliant idea and we’re delighted that the TG Concrete team has reached out to us in such a novel and exciting way.

“We’ll be encouraging our members to put their artistic skills to the test, with the ultimate prize of seeing the winning design on the side of a concrete mixer that will be highly visible on the roads of Shropshire and beyond.”

Entries should be sent to marketing@tggroup.co.uk and the sign-written vehicle should be in operation later this year.
