THESE days the town of Oswestry is represented in Welsh football by national champions TNS.
The 2003 merger between TNS, formerly Llansantffraid, and Oswestry meant a new chapter in the history of both clubs.
Of course, football in the border town has an eventful history.
The club competed in the English non-league pyramid from 1924 until 1979.

However the sale of their Victoria Road ground in 1988 spelt the end of the old old until a new club was formed in 1993 and joined the Welsh pyramid.
The club climbed to the heights of the national league in 2000 but struggled financially and in 2003 the troubled Oswestry club merged with Total Network Solutions (TNS) before rebranding as The New Saints in 2006.
