Two Powys residents are participating in a 4,000 mile rally to raise money for the people of Ukraine.

Ian Owens and Lee Evans, from Lake Vyrnwy, are planning to take part in the Baltic Sea Circle Rally in June.

The Baltic Sea Circle Rally is a 16-day long race around the Baltic Sea, covering approximately 4,660 miles.

Starting in Hamburg, Germany, the race passes through Sweden, Finland and other Scandinavian territories, travelling into the Arctic Circle, before finishing back in Hamburg.

The rally sets a specific list of requirements to qualify for the race, including a vehicle that must be a minimum of 20 years old and that entrants must have raised at least £620 for a charity of their choice.

Ian Owens said: “During the race there is no GPS allowed, the adventure is finding your own way whilst performing challenges along the way.

“There is a downloadable tracking app, so you will be able to follow us along the way.

“We have a 20 year old, a little past its prime, Subaru Impreza Estate, which, fingers crossed, will get us round and back home.”

The team has a JustGiving page that they are using to raise money for British-Ukrainian Aid.
