ELLESMERE'S Lyneal trust is getting ready to launch its spring and summer season of boating trips, and says it has been boosted by repairs on its canal.

The Trust, which offers facilities for people with disabilities or are vulnerable, is starting up its 2022 programme.

It says repairs further down the Llangollen canal towards the town itself means its boats will be able to make longer trips.

A spokesman said: "Good news for our guests and all boaters heading towards Llangollen.

"The Canal and River Trust advise that New Marton Locks will be open again from Monday afternoon following the five-week stoppage required to carry out repairs to the weir crest."

The spokesman added that any groups looking to hire the boats can do so from now.

They added: "A spring trip for the day or for the week?

"You'll find our accessible narrowboats just the ticket for 2022.

"Each of our three boats has ramp and lift access for wheelchair-users and an accessible bathroom, with secondary steering on the Shropshire Lady and the Shropshire Lass to allow you to steer from your chair.
