TNS secured their place in the final of the JD Welsh Cup on Sunday but manager Anthony Limbrick was left far from impressed by the semi-final venue.

A solitary Danny Davies goal proved just enough for the JD Premier champions to see off Colwyn Bay of JD Cymru North who were cheered on by a large following at Rhyl’s Belle Vue.

However Limbrick was not happy with the state of the pitch and questioned the decision to stage the semi-final at the venue.

Limbrick said: “We knew the game was going to be hard today

“The pitch was very difficult to play on, no disrespect to Rhyl but the fact that this pitch can be used for a semi-final is unbelievable.

“We had to grind it out, we had to be tough, we had to be physical and we had to show a different side to us.

“It was a game we needed to win and I am happy to be in the final.”

The result means the Saints will now face Penybont in the final with a date and venue yet to be confirmed.

Added spice is added to the game with the Bridgend side also striving for second place in the JD Cymru Premier table.

Should TNS win the double then Wales’ third qualification place for Europe would go to the league’s third placed finishers.

Meanwhile victory for Penybont, coupled with a second place finish, would also see the third European spot going to the league’s third placed finishers.

The Saints renew old rivalries with Newtown on Friday night with the Robins making the trip to Park Hall (7.45).

While TNS have secured the title the Robins will arrive on the hunt for points to maintain their own top three bid with European football at stake.
