A MID Wales water company has launched the second wave of its community fund project.

Hafren Dyfrdwy community fund has entered its second wave, with charities and non-profit organisations across the region now able to apply for grants.

The fund was first launched in 2021 to support new projects across mid Wales that aim to make a difference within the community.

The second round of funding was opened on March 7, with local groups able to apply for grants between £2,000 and £10,000.

The closing date for applications is April 4.

Member of the Senedd for North Wales, Sam Rowlands, said: “It was fantastic to visit Agri-cation near Bangor-on-Dee and see how this innovative business is focusing on teaching young people about the food chain, the environment and the farming industry.

“I’m very pleased to see Hafren Dyfrdwy supporting Agri-cation through their Community Fund.”

Agri-cation, a project that gives disabled children and those from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to visit a family farm and experience outdoor learningwas a successful recipient of Hafren Dyfrdwy’s first wave of funding.

In October 2021, their Grow Together project was awarded £9,408 by the Community Fund.

Cheryl Reeves, from Agri-cation, said: “This funding has given us an excellent opportunity to work with our local community.

“Our community hub is our family farm and it’s a great place for people to engage with the animals and develop their ability to grow seasonal vegetables and fruit to aid their health and wellbeing.

“This funding will help develop our sensory garden which is already helping so many individuals' wellbeing and development.

“The future is looking bright for Agri-cation and we would like to thank Hafren Dyfrdwy for your support.”

The fund supports groups who support their local communities through three core themes; projects that help people lead a healthier life and gain new skills, ideas that help create better places to live and use, and schemes that help look after the environment.
