THE ENVIROMENTAL Agency has issued several flood alerts and flood warnings for areas in Powys and the Shropshire borders.

As heavy rainfall continues to affect the region, multiple areas have been listed as at risk of flooding or currently experiencing flooding as a result of the deluge.

Areas along the Severn Vywnwy confluence have been affected.

The Environment Agency says: “River levels remain high at the Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Cae Howel river gauges following recent heavy rainfall.

“We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from the Welsh border at Llawnt to Shrawardine near Shrewsbury.

“Other locations that may be affected include Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley.

“Minor roads between Maesbrook, Melverley and Pentre and the road from Maesbrook to Melverley may be flooded.

This rain will cause river levels to remain high over the next few days with the possibility of further rises today and into Monday.”

Further heavy rainfall has been forecast over the next 24 hours.
