A MOTORIST was landed with a fine after three out of four tyres on his vehicle were not fit for the road.

Stuart Thomas Ralph Bayliss was stopped on the A489 in Kerry on October 27, last year, just after 9pm.

A check of the vehicle he was driving, a Vauxhall Astra adapted to carry eight passengers plus the driver, had insufficient tread of less than 1.6mm on all but the rear passenger side tyre.

At Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 28, the 27-year-old, of Sarn, near Newtown, admitted the three charges put to him.

Magistrates fined Bayliss £158 for each offence, and added three penalty points to his licence.

He must also pay £90 court costs and a £47 victim surcharge, making a total of £611.
