A FIRE broke out in a house in Knighton in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

The incident happened in Bridge Street shortly before 2am.

Firefighters from Knighton, Presteigne and Llandrindod Wells were in attendance along with two appliances from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service's Clun.

Nobody was injured.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was confined to a third-floor bedroom, within a three-storey house, whilst the rest of the third floor was smoked logged.

"Three breathing apparatus teams, two hose reel jets, one hydrant, two thermal imaging cameras, a triple extension ladder and a safety jet were used to extinguish the fire.

"All persons within the property were accounted for.

"The fire and rescue service left the incident at 04:41am."
