The dust has settled after the recent by election, so now would be a good time to reflect upon what tactical voting actually achieved.
All we have done in North Shropshire is replace one right of centre MP with another right of centre MP.
What ever the Lib Dems and their friends in the media said, the numbers were there for Labour to win. There was a genuine opportunity to elect a progressive, left of centre Labour candidate and therefore bring about real change in our constituency.
Tactical voting made sure that, that opportunity was thrown away.
