HUNDREDS of Mini cars will be descending on Oswestry this weekend in what is being described as the biggest convention in the region.

The free event will be held at the British Ironwork Centre, off the A5 near Oswestry, on Sunday, January 16 and will start at 10am.

The event has been organised by the Wirral Mini Owners Club for fans of this iconic car to showcase their own vehicles and view others.

Around 200 Mini cars, of all models, are expected to arrive in Oswestry.

Wirral Mini Owners Club have members from the peninsular and also Liverpool, Cheshire, North Wales and other parts of the UK.

They usually meet up on the first and third Monday of each month.

Clive Knowles, chairman of The British Ironwork Centre, said he is looking forward to hosting the event.

“Prizes for the best examples are being organised by ourselves and all these events carry no cost to the clubs wishing to use the sculpture park.

“We invite clubs to enquire directly with us regarding events.”
