POWYS County Council has given notice of a temporary road closure near Llanfyllin.

On January 3-4, a traffic order will come into effect prohibiting any vehicle from proceeding a length of the A490 Llanfyllin.

The closures will take place from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

The length of road affected concerns the A490, past the junction with the B4393 and continues along it as it reaches Llanfyllin.

The closure is on behalf of MJ Quinn and Openreach, with the road being closed while they install five new telegraph poles.

The construction is part of MJ Quinn and Openreach’s partnership to build up rural fibre in Wales. The companies hope it will allow customers to access faster broadband if they require the service.

Powys County Council added that access for residents of the area will be maintained during the closures.

Access for emergency vehicles will also remain in place during the times of the closures.

Alternative routes will be signposted.
