THERE was some underwater Christmas cheer at a Chirk swim club after they put another 'cracker' of a gala.
Chirk Dragons Swimming Club, who train at both Moreton Hall school near Oswestry and Chirk Leisure Centre, held the third Christmas Cracker gala, inviting fellow clubs from across North Wales to join them.
A club spokesman said the event was a true club effort and thanked all those who took part in the gala on Sunday, December 12.
They said: "We hosted our third annual Christmas Cracker gala and a great day of racing was enjoyed by all the clubs who joined us.
"Swimmers were posting great times all day with some brilliant close racing.
"We have a great team of volunteers at Chirk who make events like this happen and many thanks to them for all their help to set up, during the meet and the clear up crew at the end, we couldn’t do it without you.
"Many thanks also to a great group of officials lead by Stu Highfield and Rich Healey and to our brilliant sponsors who make today a success, Aqua Swim Supplies, Jewson Wrexham, Blake Construction and Hive Pods,
"As a club we have tried hard over the last couple of weeks to get a limited amount of spectators in today and this ensured there was a great atmosphere to match the quality of the swimming.
"Happy Christmas to everyone and see you all for the fourth Christmas Cracker next year."
