A TALENTED musician has been named this year's recipient of a school bursary.

Paige Powell won the Oswestry Lion's bursary for The Marches Academy in Oswestry, following a selection process which was held internally by the school.

School officials whittled the those eligible down to a final few candidates, before the Lions president Bob Lea and treasurer Graeme Ross selected Paige to receive the award after holding interviews and hearing musical renditions from the contenders.

Bob said: "It was a very hard decision to make. Paige gave a very good performance on the drums with a clear ambition to pursue a career in musical."

The bursary will finance a more advanced set of drums, accessories and required specialist tuition.
