DARREN Wildman has become St Martins Football Club's third manager of the season.

Wildman takes charge for the first time at Alsager Town as the club bid to revive their North West Counties South League season.

The ex-Southport coach succeeds Josh Gough who quit a fortnight ago having followed in the footsteps of James Etherington.

A club statement read: "St Martins have acted quickly to appoint a new man to lead the club through the remainder of the season.

"We are pleased to announce we have our man to lead us is what we hope will be the 'greatest escape'.

"Darren has great experience in coaching and developing players from his time with Southport and Skelmersdale and has been a friend of the club for many years."

Wildman's appointment will also boost the club's bid to build their own ground in the village.

"He has a track record of securing Football Foundation funding as we push hard to develop our new sporting facility in the heart of St Martins village," added the statement.

"We wish Darren the very best of luck and with the players and committee 100 per cent behind him, we know we have the right man to lead the club forward."
