AN MP helping Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, the Conservative candidate for the North Shropshire by-election this weekend, appeared to have got his constituencies mixed up.
Mr Hughes, who is MP for Walsall North, only a stone's throw away from north Shropshire, was out on the campaign trail with Dr Shastri-Hurst and Oliver Dowden, co-chairman of the Conservatives and currently Minister without Portfolio.
The trio were in Wem speaking to locals about why they believe Dr Shastri-Hurst is the man to replace Owen Paterson, but Mr Hughes took too Twitter to tell his followers he was out campaigning in North Staffs, around 30 miles to the north east.
He later appeared on BBC Midlands Today and told presenters: "My geography isn't great – I knew I was in Wem."
He was, of course, quickly corrected in his replies by many tweeters.
Very positive day campaigning in Wem for the North Staffs by-election. 🗳

Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst would be an excellent MP, and already has a proven track record of public service.#Conservatives pic.twitter.com/t7kGla0aDa
