HUNDREDS of people crammed onto the Bailey Head on Thursday for the Christmas Lights switch, joined by heroes on all levels.

The event, which was launched virtually in 2020 by former mayor Councillor Duncan Kerr because of the Covid-19 lockdown, brought the town to life ahead of the switch on.

BBC Shropshire's James Bond once again played MC for the event and he was joined on stage for the big switch-on by the current mayor, Cllr Mark Jones and his mayoress and wife Ruth, as well as Olympic gold medallist Oliver Townend plus TNS boss Anthony Limbrick.

The event retuned with its traditional programme of stalls and refreshments around the Bailey Head and further down Bailey Street.
