A SPECIAL cake and VIP guests has helped Pant WI celebrate a milestone birthday.

The cake was baked and decorated by member Margaret Edwards with her peers enjoying a few glasses of bubbly and soft drinks to enjoy the opportunity to get together and chat once again.

A spokesman for the group said they were delighted to welcome county chairman and Pant WI advisor Glenys Wheeler and two members from Maesbury were welcome guests to the evening, which include the AGM.

The said: "Once again there were several guests at the meeting – four of whom joined on the night and one will do so next month; it has been a very successful return after the Covid lockdown for Pant WI.

"Cups were presented for the competitions held each month, this time over a two-year period.

"One member showed the disc of wood she had painted and decorated depicting scenes in Pant.

"This will go with others from Wis all over the county to hang on the Christmas trees at St Chad’s church in Shrewsbury for the County Carol Service on Saturday, December 11.

"The cake was cut by County Chairman, Glenys and Pant WI’s oldest member Irene Lindup, who was eight when it held its first meeting."

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 2 at 7.15pm in Pant Memorial Hall when John Croft will entertain with his ukulele as members enjoy their own Christmas buffet.
