ELLESMERE Rangers endured a day to forget in a 7-1 thrashing at Cheadle Town in the North West Counties South League.
Niall Thomas gave the Shropshire side a fifth minute lead but the home side stormed back with Patrick Davin levelling with a 22nd minute penalty before Adam Jones and Ryan Usher netted before the break.
Usher added his second early in the second-half before a Davin double completed his hat-trick and ensured no way back for Rangers.
Enock Amankwaa completed the scoring and Mere's misery in Cheshire with 15 minutes remaining.
Elsewhere St Martins testing start to the season continued in a 3-1 defeat at Stockport Town.
Paul Turnbull fired the Cheshire hosts into a 20th minute lead which separated the sides until Wealth Dasilva-Olajide doubled the advantage early in the second-half.
An own goal briefly raised hopes of Saints comeback only for William Calligan to net and ensured Stockport the spoils.
